jumpSlovakian Rough Haired Pointer
The Slovakian Rough Haired Pointers
were developed shotly after World War II.

There was a need for a tuff, even tempered Versitale Gun Dog, one that could handle the worst of all conditions from thick forest to ice cold water. The Slovakians started with the best versitale gun dog breeds, the foundation of this breed is the Weimaraner, the German Wirehaired pointer, and the Cesky Fousek. They needed a dog with great courage, and tuffness, with the ability to track, and bring down game in all conditions. They were also in need of a dog with a great nose, and pointing ability to hunt the upland game birds, one with a harsh weather proof coat to retrieve waterfowl from ice water.  This was alot to ask out of one breed, so they started developing their own. Only the best Weimaraners,German Wire Haired pointers, and the Cesky Fousek were used, thus forming a Super Versitale Gun Dog with a beautiful silver grey coat. SRHP's have a coat much like the Drathaar/Cresky being a dual, tuff, wire type coat. They formed a dog that can do it all, hunting all fur and feather! The wonderfull temperment of this breed is easy going with most all animals, and children. The SRHP is a REAL WORLD CLASS VERSITALE GUN DOG.
We would like to Thank Nicholas Elder at Aucassin Gundogs from Ireland for allowing us to import these wonderful working gun dogs, and outstanding family members to the United States. We are very proud to have 4 of the first in the USA and mabey the first . Thanks again Nicholas.
